BR-DE-23-a: A transfer with no account block. How to fix it
The invoice states a credit transfer as the payment means (BT-81, code 30 or 58) but contains no "CREDIT TRANSFER" block (BG-17) with your account.
Error: the invoice is refusedFrom the German additional rules (XRechnung)
The rule, in its own words
Wenn BT-81 "Payment means type code" einen Schlüssel für Überweisungen enthält (30, 58), muss BG-17 "CREDIT TRANSFER" übermittelt werden.
Fields involved: BT-81, BG-17
What the rule checks
The rule checks a condition: if the payment means type code (BT-81) is a code for credit transfers, that is 30 or 58, the invoice must contain the "CREDIT TRANSFER" block (BG-17). That block carries the account the money is to be transferred to. For other payment means the rule does not apply.
Why files fail it
- Credit transfer is set as the payment means, but no bank details are held in the master data, so the software leaves the block out.
- The IBAN appears only in the visible PDF or in the payment terms text, not in the structured data.
- The software sets credit transfer by default although payment is by direct debit or card. In that case it is the payment means code that is wrong, not the missing block.
How to fix it
- Add the "CREDIT TRANSFER" block (BG-17) with your IBAN in the field "Payment account identifier" (BT-84). That also clears BR-61, which is reported alongside it whenever the account is missing.
- If payment is not by transfer, correct the payment means code instead: 59 for direct debit, together with the "DIRECT DEBIT" block (BG-19), or 48, 54 or 55 for a card payment, together with "PAYMENT CARD INFORMATION" (BG-18).
- Older validator versions reported a missing account block as BR-DE-13. That rule was replaced in 2021 by BR-DE-23, BR-DE-24 and BR-DE-25; the fix is the same.
- In our form the "IBAN" field under "Your details" is mandatory, and we do not produce an invoice without one. We derive the payment means code from the IBAN's country, 58 for a SEPA account and 30 otherwise, and the IBAN always goes into the account block.
