BR-DE-6: Your telephone number is missing. How to fix it
Your contact details (BG-6) contain no telephone number (BT-42). XRechnung requires one even when an email address is given.
Error: the invoice is refusedFrom the German additional rules (XRechnung)
The rule, in its own words
Das Element "Seller contact telephone number" (BT-42) muss übermittelt werden.
Fields involved: BT-42
What the rule checks
The rule checks that the field "Seller contact telephone number" (BT-42) is present and not empty inside the block with your contact details (BG-6). It does not check how the number is written; that is the job of the warning BR-DE-27, which expects at least three digits. If the contact block is missing entirely, the report names BR-DE-2 instead.
Why files fail it
- No telephone number is held in your master data, or in the user profile your software takes the contact details from.
- The number appears only in the letterhead or the footer of the PDF, not in the structured data.
- The field was left empty on purpose because you prefer questions by email. XRechnung requires both regardless.
How to fix it
- Enter a telephone number where questions about the invoice get answered. The field is "Seller contact telephone number" (BT-42) in the standard.
- Write it with the country code, for example +49 30 1234567. The rule prescribes no format, but this way it can be dialled from abroad too.
- Do not use a placeholder. A dash or text without digits does satisfy this rule, but it triggers the warning BR-DE-27. That is a warning, not a refusal.
- In our form it is the "Contact phone" field in the "Your details" section. The invoice cannot be generated without it, and a hint appears as you type if the number is not in the usual form with a country code.
Check your file
Upload your invoice. It runs through the same official validator that applies this rule, and you see immediately whether it passes now.
