BR-DE-7: Your contact email address is missing. How to fix it

Your contact details (BG-6) contain no email address (BT-43). The electronic address used for receiving invoices does not replace it.

Error: the invoice is refusedFrom the German additional rules (XRechnung)

The rule, in its own words

Das Element "Seller contact email address" (BT-43) muss übermittelt werden.

Fields involved: BT-43

What the rule checks

The rule checks that the field "Seller contact email address" (BT-43) is present and not empty inside the block with your contact details (BG-6). It is a different field from the seller's electronic address (BT-34), even though both often carry the same address. Whether the address is plausibly formed is checked by the warning BR-DE-28. If the contact block is missing entirely, the report names BR-DE-2 instead.

Why files fail it

  • Your email address is in the invoice as the electronic address (BT-34), but not in the contact details. They are two separate fields.
  • No email address is held in the company or user profile your software takes the contact details from.
  • The address appears only in the footer of the PDF, not in the structured data.

How to fix it

  1. Enter an email address for questions. The field is "Seller contact email address" (BT-43) in the standard.
  2. It may be the same address as your electronic address (BT-34), but it has to appear here as well.
  3. Watch the spelling: exactly one @ sign and no spaces. Otherwise the warning BR-DE-28 follows; that is a warning, not a refusal.
  4. In our form it is the "Email" field in the "Your details" section. The address then appears in the contact details and also as the electronic address on the invoice; without a valid address the invoice cannot be generated.

Check your file

Upload your invoice. It runs through the same official validator that applies this rule, and you see immediately whether it passes now.
